Bev Zalcock, (ETS430, Global Cities and World Cinema) is an important influence on filmmaker Carol Morley’s work. Morley noted it was Bev who mentioned a medieval laughing epidemic, that led to her latest film, The Falling. Starring Maisie Williams (you may know her as Arya Stark from Game of Thrones), and Florence Pugh, the film tells the story of a fainting outbreak at an all girls’ school.
Those of you from upstate New York may remember the twitching epidemic in Le Roy of 2012, in which many girls in the local high school experienced uncontrollable twitching.
You never know where an SUL professor’s influence will appear!
